Akiva is a psychotherapist (MFT-LP) and a relational trauma specialist. Having completed an internship under Timothy Lee, a leading expert in the sexual compulsivity and trauma field, Akiva has specialized experience supporting clients struggling with sex addiction, betrayal trauma, codependence, and related intimacy challenges. Holding an attuned and empathetic space, Akiva applies evidence-based trauma therapy, collaborating with clients to explore, realize, and process everything to the core of the psyche.
Akiva received his Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Touro University. As a therapist, he utilizes Attachment-Based Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Somatic Therapy.
Drawing from extensive training in systemic couples therapy approaches, such as Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy (IBCT) and The Gottman Method, Akiva offers a potent couples therapy space. In his commitment to helping couples repair or move forward with peace, he is a Part 146 New York State Approved Divorce Mediator and a Collaborative Divorce Professional.
Before becoming a therapist, he conducted performance coaching, helping clients learn and apply somatic mind-body techniques toward core paradigm shifts and insights. Akiva received certification as a Transformational Nutrition Coach from ITN. He is a seasoned practitioner of wellness, performance, and recovery tools.
Akiva’s work is rooted in a devoted belief that healing is possible. He takes great pleasure in working with clients toward developing a transformational path forward.
