Dr. Amanda Lefkowitz, DNP, PMHNP, is a Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who earned her doctoral degree from Columbia University, where she was the recipient of The Doctor of Nursing Practice Award for clinical excellence. She has a master's degree in PTSD and Trauma studies from Tel Aviv University and a bachelor's in psychology from Boston University. She currently holds a faculty position as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Columbia University School of Nursing.
Dr. Lefkowitz has a private practice where she treats a complexity of presenting problems within the primary domains of mental health, trauma and addiction. She is experienced in diagnosing, assessing and providing medication management within the context of a holistic and culturally sensitive approach. She offers a safe, non-judgmental environment, where she partners with her patients to empower them to make decisions about their psychiatric care.
Dr. Lefkowitz recognizes the strengths, resilience and uniqueness of her patients and does not use a one-size fits all approach. Dr. Lefkowitz believes in the value of the therapeutic relationship and collaborates extensively with healthcare providers to offer an integrative team model.
Prior to starting her own private practice, Dr. Lefkowitz worked for several years on an inpatient psychiatric unit at Lenox Hill Hospital. In addition, she worked in both outpatient and residential treatment centers specializing in mental health and addiction medicine. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honors Society of Nursing.
