Rosie Silva, MHC

Rosie has extensive experience working with individuals and couples in helping them attain greater intimacy with themselves and others. She has worked for many years with betrayal trauma and sexual addiction and has a keen understanding of the issues that need to be addressed to create healing, reovery and healthier relationships.

Rosie recognizes that taking the first steps towards seeking therapeutic help can be frightening, especially with certain subject matters.  Her chief aim as a counselor and coach is to provide a safe, empathic and compassionate space to help her clients grow in self-awareness and lessen their anxieties.  Rosie comes alive when she works collaboratively with her clients to live the most authentic version of themselves. To this end, she helps them discover their innate skills to navigate life’s difficulties as well as identify negative patterns that are keeping them stuck.

Rosie brings a compassionate presence coupled with her no-nonsense New Yorker style to help her clients achieve their optimum wellbeing, whether that is improving interpersonal relationships, overcoming self-esteem challenges or pursuing a career change. Most importantly, she focuses on creating a non-judgmental environment for her clients to feel heard, validated and understood. In addition, she believes that it is paramount to take into consideration how political influences, societal narratives, intergenerational effects and genetic predisposition intersect to shape one’s emotional being.

Rosie’s diverse education and professional background has given her a versatile and relatable style, which makes for an easier connection with a wider range of clients.  She is passionate about working with vulnerable populations, who are marginalized due to their ethnicity, race, social-economic status or immigration status. She has devoted most of her life to serve such underrepresented groups, whether working as a counselor to foster children from Brooklyn, helping draw attention to discrimination faced by girls globally at the United Nation, or serving the Latinx community in the South Bronx as a bilingual counselor.

Rosie earned her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from King’s College. She received her Master of Arts and Master of Education in Psychology Counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University, with a concentration in Bilingual Latinx Mental Health Counseling.
