Sasha Pettus

Clinical Intern

Sasha is currently a second-year Master's student in Mental Health and Wellness at New York University. Prior to embarking on her academic journey at NYU Steinhardt, Sasha amassed field experience as an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapist. Sasha also served as an emotional support counselor at a non-profit organization. In addition to direct counseling roles, Sasha has experience in the corporate sector, having worked on the people’s team of a SaaS company.

Sasha's passion lies in cultivating a compassionate and supportive environment for all clients, employing various therapeutic techniques to cater to their individual needs. She understands the hesitation and fear in openness being met with judgment that clients may come in with. By creating a safe and accepting space, Sasha encourages clients to openly share their experiences and challenges, knowing they will be met with empathy and authentic understanding.

Drawing on a Wellness approach, Sasha engages in a non-hierarchical collaborative relationship with clients, seeking to return agency to them so that they drive their wellness journey as a conscious and deliberate process. She aims to empower clients to achieve their goals, fostering resilience, self-awareness, and overall well-being.
